PAULA VACCARO

Paula Vaccaro was born in Buenos Aires and has been based in London since 2000. She is a Chevening Scholar and holds a Master in Media Arts from Royal Holloway, University of London.. She is an award-winning scriptwriter, producer and journalist whose career spans more than twenty five years across printed media, film, television, radio and digital media.

She founded Pinball London in 2009, shaping it into an independent production company with a global outlook. Under her direction the company has earned over one hundred awards, including three Lions at the Venice Film Festival and premieres at Sundance, Berlin, Toronto, Venice, New York Film Festival, MOMA NY, and San Sebastián among others.

Her recent achievements include producing and co-writing Listen, the most awarded film of the Venice Film Festival in 2020, winner of two Lions and thirty four other awards and selected as Portugal’s entry to the OSCARS®, She also produced On the Milky Road, winner of the Young Golden Lion in 2016, starring Monica Bellucci. Her collaborations extend across more than fifteen countries and include filmmakers such as Sally Potter, Guillermo Arriaga, Luca Guadagnino, Jim Jarmusch, Amos Gitai, Mira Nair, Emir Kusturica, Alex de la Iglesia, Bahman Ghobadi, Edoardo de Angelis,, Hector Babenco, Hideo Nakata, and Warwick Thornton.

Before establishing Pinball London, Paula built a broad international career working in productions done with the BBC, TVE, MTV, Bravo, Channel 4, ARTE, Telecinco, and Canal+. Previously she worked as a journalist for major media outlets including Clarín newspaper, VIVA magazine, Folha de São Paulo, El País and XL Semanal. Her early career included producing and commissioning factual and documentary work across Europe and Latin America, including launching editorial partnerships in Madrid, Spain. 

Paula is a long-standing leader in the film industry who places knowledge sharing at the centre of her work. She mentors, trains, and consults for organisations such as Berlinale EFM, ACE, BIFA, Campus Latino, Doc Campus, Eurimages, British Council, Creative access, Erich Pommer Institute, Netflix-Tatino Grow Creative labs, as well as for private clients. Through this combined work she has supported hundreds of projects and companies, helping them strengthen their scripts, deepen their creative development, build leadership skills and shape effective co-production strategies.

She is a full voting member of BAFTA, and the Writers Guild of Great Britain. She has been a BIFA juror since 2018.  She is serving her third mandate as Vice President of the European Producers Club. She can work in Spanish, English, Italian and Portuguese and holds UK, EU and Argentina citizenships..
