AARON BROOKNER

Aaron Brookner is a writer, director, producer and visual artist. Born in Greenwich Village, he graduated from Vassar College and has been based in London since 2009. He trained as a writer with Budd Schulberg (On the Waterfront) and started his career assisting in the productions of Jim Jarmusch and Rebecca Miller. Aaron works across narrative and documentary features, series, branded content and visual arts. His films have premiered at leading festivals including Sundance, Berlinale, Venice, Locarno, Viennale and New York Film Festival.
As a director and producer, Aaron’s projects have received major distinctions including New York Times Critic’s Pick, Hollywood Reporter’s Top Ten documentary, and winning Spain’s Dias de Cine award. Listen, which he produced and co-wrote, became the most awarded film of the Venice Film Festival, received two Lions, more than forty international awards.
He is the driving force behind the restoration and activation of the Howard Brookner archive. He initiated the recovery of his late uncle’s lost films and led the remastering of Burroughs: The Movie and Robert Wilson and the CIVIL warS,. This archival leadership continues through the Howard Brookner Legacy Project..
He holds a US, UK and EU citizenships and is able to work in English and Spanish..
